Planning for Summer

Hey all! Thanks for all the nice comments on my last post/contest. If you still want enter, go here.

So last night at Wildflower there as a cash and carry trunk sale. For those of you who may not know what this is, it's basically a night when a yarn rep comes through town with lots and lots of yarn that the store does not carry, giving us a chance to do a bit of shopping. The selection this time included many yarns by Blue Heron and Pagewood Farms, including this beauty:

Blue Heron Bamboo Lace, colorway Chesapeake. There are 1260 yards of this luscious bamboo lace weight yarn, and although it was a bit out of my budget, I knew I could make a pretty decent top with just one skein of this beauty, so I couldn't pass it up!

After I got home last night I started hunting for patterns to make the ultimate summer top/sweater/cardigan/tank whatever.  After much searching (which still isn't technically done) I have found the following:

Finchs Wings. -- Really like but not sure where to get the pamphlet

So I was wondering what you all thought? Any suggestions? Patterns not on my list?? I would love to hear what you guys think. It'll be a few weeks before I even consider casting on. I am wanting to finish up my socks and also get my school work figured out. T-minus 2 weeks until finals!

I hope everyone had a great week and Happy Friday!

  1. Oh the dreaded 'F' word! Finals that is!! I hated them soooooo much. But there is no better feeling that walking away from your last one ;) Best of luck on them.

My vote: Hanna: You would look so sweet in it!

  2. Ugh, classes need to end NOW! Don't worry, we can make it and then it will be summer and we will have all sorts of fun adventures!

For the top I second that Hanna looks great. I'm also a fan of Sommertunica, such a cute design! That sale sounded amazing! I'm glad that you were able to go!

  3. I love the Hanna but also really really love Eerie- glad I don't have to pick- the yarn is gorgeous!

  4. I'm going through the same thing right now - giant skein of yarn, trying to find a shawl pattern I like.

I vote for Gretel. Just added it to my queue, in fact!

  5. Wow, what a difficult choice - the patterns you picked are lovely! If I had to choose, I'd pick either Zelda or Eerie. I love how the shaping on Zelda, and how drapey and cool the fabric looks. Your yarn is totally gorgeous, and should be such a treat to work with!

Good luck with your finals! They'll be over before you know it. :)

  6. My money is on Sophia, Hanna or Zelda. All Fab!
I hope your finals just FLY by! Roll on Summer eh!
    Good luck X

  7. The trunk show sounds both wonderful and dangerous ... I think I would have to go with a set amount of cash and no credit cards to avoid going crazy with yarn purchases. I love that Blue Heron yarn-- they come up with the most gorgeous colors.

Even if you are just saying Hello, I always love hearing from you :)
